After recently browsing on Pinterest, I came across some really chic DIY artwork using false eyelashes and a photo frame. In five easy steps and taking less than an hour, I managed to recreate my own fab, inexpensive version!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 empty photo frame – I purchased mine from a store called B & M for around £1.99.
- 2 pieces of card
- A variety of cheap eyelashes – I found some at Superdrug for £1 each.
- A pair of scissors
- Super glue
- A pencil
- A pair of tweezers
Take apart the frame and remove the glass.
Lay the glass on top of the card and use it to measure how much card you will need. Draw around the glass and cut it out. Do the same with the second piece of card. One of these will be the background and the other will be the border.
Take one of the pieces of card and measure out a smaller rectangle – around 1-2 inches in from the edges of the card. Cut out the centre and you’ve got yourself a border.
You won’t need the glass anymore as the eyelashes will get squashed if you put it back in the frame, so make sure you dispose of it properly.
Take the other piece of card and arrange the eyelashes in the order that you want them. I arranged mine in order of volume.
After arranging the eyelashes begin to stick them on the card by applying the glue directly to the eyelashes. Use the pair of tweezers as if you were applying eyelashes to your actual eye. It makes it so much easier and you won’t risk getting super glue stuck to your fingers!
Put your photo frame back together (without the glass) and it should look something like this! As you can see, I decided to paint my border baby pink. I’ve also seen some with writing on them, labelling each of the lashes. I prefer the minimalist look, but it’s really up to you how you want to personalise it!
The last thing to do is to display your masterpiece!
