I received this collection as a Christmas gift and it’s fast becoming a beauty go-to! Aside from nail polish, I’ve never really tried any Ciate makeup products, however, after using all of the items in the Beauty Haul, I will definitely be giving more of their products a try! Altogether, the Haul comes with four of Ciate’s bestselling products: a 15 shade eyeshadow palette, a mini mascara, a mini liquid lipstick and a makeup bag – all curated by Beauty Guru, Chloe Morello. The whole thing normally retails at £45, but it’s currently on sale for £40.50 on the Ciate website! You can buy some of the items, full size, separately.
PRETTY, FUN AND FEARLESS PALETTE:
I have been using this palette non-stop for around two weeks now and I absolutely love it. The majority of the shadows are creamy, pigmented and very blendable, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy using this palette! However, a few of the matte shades aren’t as creamy or pigmented as others, such as ‘day dream’ – yet, this is expected because matte purples are hard to make perfect. This is a tad disappointing, but all of the shimmer shades are amazing and in my opinion really make up for the minor few that don’t stand out.
There are so many different looks you can create with this palette, I’ve created some really gorgeous matte everyday eye-looks, to full glam. Whilst, I normally tend to reach for warmer shades in any palette, I feel I may begin to create some looks out of my comfort zone using this palette.
As you can see from the swatches, there isn’t a black eyeshadow in this palette, which I know for many, will be a let down. Whilst I don’t tend to wear black eyeshadow, nor am I bothered if a palette doesn’t have one, I know that if there was a black eyeshadow, this palette on the whole would be even better!
LIQUID VELVET: PIN UP “MATTE LIP SLICK” (Full size retailing at £13.60.)
Right of the bat, I was drawn to this colour. I am obsessed with berry lip colours, so this was instantly right up my street. It’s definitely one of those shades that will compliment any skin tone. On top of this, the product actually lives up to the name ‘Liquid Velvet’ and is one of those lipsticks that really does make your lips look like velvet!
The lipstick has no scent whatsoever, which I think is quite unusual for products of this sort. So, for those who don’t appreciate the sweet or chemically smell of many liquid lipsticks, this product is great! Although it’s a non-drying matte, which would normally put me off, it wasn’t tacky, felt hydrating and did not dry out my lips throughout the day! In terms of wear-time, because it’s non-drying, it did come off quicker than liquid lipsticks that I’m used to and it did transfer. Having said that, it’s great if you only need to wear for a few hours, as it compliments your lips!
WONDERWAND MASCARA: (Full size retailing at £19.50 – currently on sale at £17.55)
Described as an ‘intense 3D Volume Mascara’, I was pleasantly surprised! It’s a fab product that does what it it sets out to do: lengthens my lashes and makes them look thicker.
I’ve worn it a few times with more intense eyes looks, as I tend to wear more natural mascaras on an everyday basis. So far, I haven’t come across any clumpiness and it’s definitely long wearing – which makes it perfect for nights out. Comparing it to some of my other volumising mascaras, it feels very light on the lashes, yet it still creates the same desired effect. In terms of the 3D aspect, however, I’m not really sure what that entails, maybe I’m not applying it correctly? Either way, it’s definitely a product worthy of a try!
CIATE MAKEUP BAG:
The final item is the makeup bag it comes with and I think it’s adorable! I’m not sure if it’s genuine leather (probably not) but it definitely feels very good quality! Of course all of the items in the Beauty Haul fit into the pouch, but I have been using this to house my brushes when I travel because it’s the perfect size!
Have you tried any Ciate products, if so, what are your favourites?
